May 17, 2024, New York – The great Italian boating industry will be featured for the first time at New York Design Week, (https://nycxdesign.org/) which runs from May 16 to 23, 2024, once again transforming New York City into a global stage for the world of art and design.
Celebrating creative diversity (with the theme “Design is All Around Us”), NY Design Week emphasizes the importance of community, inclusivity and collaboration between the three design disciplines, with events, conferences, keynotes addresses, exhibitions and installations, which will extend throughout Manhattan and where the main participants will include major Italian companies of the industry.
This very context calls for the presentation of the 64th Genoa International Boat Show, which will take place from September 19 to 24, launching the fifth edition of its Design Innovation Award. This award highlights excellence in design, research and sustainability, also in connection with the world of Interiors: for this reason, the title “Yachting Design in Motion – from Exteriors to Interiors” was chosen.
The event, organized by the Italian Trade Agency Miami, the office responsible for the design and boating industries in the U.S, was yet another opportunity to strengthen the Italian presence in the U.S. boating sector with the goal of making its presence even better known and to invite boating enthusiasts to the 64th show and share the record numbers from the 63rd Genoa International Boat Show. The exceptional venue selected for this presentation was the office of the Italian Trade Agency of New York on Madison Avenue, the location par excellence for Made in Italy promotions.
This 2024 event in New York marks our fifth presentation of the Genoa International Boat Show in the United States in the last 18 months: in 2022 and 2023, during the Fort Lauderdale trade show and at the New York Yacht Club in Manhattan and in Newport RI. The goal of these initiatives is first and foremost to strengthen the reputation and brand of all Made in Italy products in the United States, promoting globally successful formats like the Genoa Boat Show.
“The Boat Show makes everything easier, because Italian boating is the epitome of Made in Italy: everything exists in one single product – technology, design, materials, along with performance, innovation, style and trends. And if last year Confindustria Nautica invited the President of the Salone del Mobile to chair the jury of its Design Innovation Award, this year the Salone del Mobile has responded with its own event, dedicated to boating, which took place on April 16 in Milan. This is why we are at New York Design Week,” declared Carlo Angelo Bocchi, Director of the ICE Office in Miami.
“The Italian boating industry in 2023 broke every sales record, exceeding 8 billion euros of production; a large part of this success is due to the ability of our boatyards to export their exceptional products all over the world. It is therefore our duty to be back in New York, on one hand to present a preview of the 64th edition of our Boat Show to the U.S. market – the main importer of Italian boats – on the other hand to point out, during Design Week, the increasingly strong bond between Italian boating and the Made in Italy design and furniture sector,” stated Stefano Pagani Isnardi, Director of the Confindustria Nautica Research Office.
The boating industry in the U.S is experiencing a one-of-a-kind season, in fact there have been ten consecutive years of double-digit growth. The United States is the primary market for Italy, and in 2024 another record was beaten with 691 million dollars, equal to a 20% increase as compared with 2022 (which was already a record year).
The next date with the Genoa International Boat Show, September 19 to 21, 2024.
International promotion of the show will continue at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show November 1, 2024.
